Administrative Assistant

This position provides administrative and secretarial support. In addition to typing, filing and scheduling, performs duties such as financial record keeping, payroll, coordination of meetings and conferences, obtaining supplies, coordinating direct mailings, and working on special projects. Also, answers non-routine correspondence and assembles highly confidential and sensitive information. Deals with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization. Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize and organize diversified workload, recommends changes in office practices or procedures.

  1. Schedules and organizes complex activities such as meetings, travel, conferences and department activities for club members
  2. Performs desktop publishing. Creates and develops visual presentations.
  3. Establishes, develops, maintains and updates filing system. Retrieves information from files when needed. Establishes, develops, maintains and updates library of trade journals and magazines.
  4. Takes messages or fields/answers all routine and non-routine questions. Works in cooperation with other customer service employees to cover phones.
  5. Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, including high-level staff such as Dentists, Doctors, Veterinarians and other medical professionals. Handles confidential and non-routine information and explains policies when necessary.
  6. Works independently and within a team on special nonrecurring and ongoing projects.  May serve as project manager for special projects, at the request of supervisor, which may include: planning and coordinating multiple presentations, disseminating information, coordinating direct mailings, creating brochures.
  7. Types and designs general correspondences, memos, charts, tables, graphs, business plans, etc. Proofreads copy for spelling, grammar and layout, making appropriate changes. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy.
  8. Activities include: copying check requests and sending to accounts payable travel reimbursement, documenting corporate credit card expenses to corporate finance.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

 Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

 Position Type / Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

Travel: Up to 25% travel is expected for this position.

Mechanical Engineer

The mechanical engineer position plans and designs product applications and coordinates work within project teams. The position is responsible for organizing highly complex activities for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of engineering projects.

  • Researches and develops core technologies required to sustain or improve Electro/Opto/Mechanical products.
  • Assists/Leads in the initial setup, design, documentation and implementation of new product designs
  • Designs and develops tooling and fixtures, to meet functional cost, reliability, manufacturability, and safety requirements.
  • Performs verification and validation testing of designs
  • Develops, updates, and maintains medical device product DHF, DMR, and DHR.
  • Develops test protocols, creates experimental test fixtures,
  • Collects, processes and analyzes test data.
  • Makes changes to existing products/components for enhancing or amending previous designs.
  • Actively pursues continuous improvement and cost reduction.
  • Perform and setup standard inspection and quality principles used on incoming custom parts and components, as well as outgoing products and assemblies.
  • Serves as a project team member throughout the initial phases of the New Product Introduction process.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

Physical Demands: The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Quality Assurance Inspector

The quality control inspector position conducts origination inspection of incoming parts and supplies used for manufacture of products.

  • Must accurately read and comprehend documentation relating to material/production
  • Inspection of material per customer specifications for workmanship, dimensions, tolerances and usability, using FIFO System
  • Release accepted material to Stock, within three days of receipt
  • Record inspection results. Keeps accurate and detailed records
  • When material does not meet customer’s specifications, reject the material, and inform the buyer of discrepancy for disposition.
  • Maintain daily records
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe work environment by following safety policies and procedures and by reporting any safety concerns
  • Accountable for accepting responsibility for quality aspects of the job and actively participating in quality efforts by supporting LightScalpel’s quality policy.
  • Responsible for compliance to LightScalpel’s Quality Management System and other regulatory and statutory requirements as required by the customer
  • Authority to stop material from release when non-conformances are noted, and immediately notify their Group Leader or Supervisor
  • Accountable for accepting responsibility for continuous on the job training by actively participating in training put on by designated LightScalpel employees and/or any outside service
