A new application for Dental Lasers might be rehabilitation of ailing implants. This study assessed 10.6 micrometer CO2 laser parameters for the decontamination process in vitro & evaluated the method in vivo. The study concluded that in continuous wave mode, mean power output of 2.5W for a maximum of 10 s is suitable for the ablation of deceased peri-implant tissue and it was also concluded that treatment of peri-implantitis can be optimized using CO2 laser treatment.
