LightScalpel lasers and accessories have been made in the USA for almost 30 years (Luxar and NovaPulse in the past; now LightScalpel®). They have been widely used in a variety of medical specialties.
Competitors / imported surgical CO2 lasers occasionally enter the USA market and leave shortly thereafter. This manufacturer uses old articulated arm technology (inherited from the 1980s). It is nearly three times heavier than the LightScalpel, and the footprint is nearly 60% larger than LightScalpel’s. In the modern world, where technology and design strive for minimalism, such an overweight and oversized “innovation” is hardly a technological advancement.
MYTH: LightScalpel lasers require disposable tips. This is not true. LightScalpel lasers have a variety of autoclavable tipless handpieces.
Our latest brochure pinpoints some of LightScalpel’s advantages over the imported competition through a side-by-side comparison of their specifications. The included testimonials from well-accomplished surgeons discuss the value of the LightScalpel’s adjustable focal spot size handpiece; they also evaluate the dexterity of the LightScalpel flexible fiber (in comparison with the outdated articulated arm).
Testimonials
After 5 years doing frenectomies with electrosurgery and testing different lasers, I finally arrived with the optimal solution. LightScalpel is the most efficient soft tissue laser I have tried. Working with kids and infants I can’t recommend a better one.
– Marianna Evans, DMD, DABP, DABO
The LightScalpel is the finest instrument I have used for performing tongue and lip-tie surgeries as well as many other procedures. I use it at least four times a day. Before, we were using a diode laser and it doesn’t even compare. Before, a frenectomy would take around a minute or more. Now with the LightScalpel, it’s about 20 seconds. The moms report less pain for their babies (they eat better and are less fussy). In addition, the service from the company is first class. I had an issue with the laser after the first month, which they told me is rare, but they overnight shipped another unit and repaired mine at no cost. They are easy to contact and ask questions, and Gail, the sales rep, flew to our office for a no obligation test drive which was a great help. She showed us how to set it up and made sure we were comfortable with the settings. She helped us get comfortable using it on nine patients while she was there coaching us and showing us the features. When I have any questions, Peter, the owner, is very accessible and responds promptly. An all-around classy company that stands by their great product.
– Richard Baxter, DMD, MS, DABPD
As a pediatric dentist with 15 years of laser experience, including diode and erbium classes of lasers, I now exclusively use the LightScalpel CO2 laser for every infant soft tissue surgery. The adjustments for various tissue types and the exact precision of ablation are unparalleled. No other laser allows for this fine surgical control. I would never treat a patient with any other laser.
– Martin A. Kaplan, DMD, DABLS
I absolutely love my Lightscalpel…the actual laser and the company. This tool has changed my practice 100% for the better. It has allowed me to use this latest technology to provide the best possible care for my pediatric patients. Besides the great product, the customer service is top notch as well! I had that tested this week as I had a problem with my unit. The representative was right there to answer all my questions ASAP and is sending out a replacement piece so I don’t have to have this impact my patient schedule. They are a terrific company and I am a customer for life!
– Jodi Tenney, DDS
Amazing experience my first week with LightScalpel, my infant patients are much more comfortable during frenectomies and post operatively. I’m even getting feedback from a few lactation consults who are amazed at the recovery process because they are seeing less pain as opposed to frenectomy completed in the past with my diode laser. I’m thrilled that the frenectomies are so much faster; making the whole experience more enjoyable for my patients, me and my Team.
– Molly Gunsaulis, DDS
When I first got this 20 Watt LightScalpel machine I was hoping to have a good replacement for the old Luxar LX 20. However what I am really finding out is that this is not a replacement for that machine but truly a second-generation machine. This is a whole new level of CO2 laser. I am not easily impressed – congratulations!
