Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at the 99th Annual Meeting of the American Association of Periodontology (AAP) in Philadelphia, PA, George E. Romanos, DDS, PhD, Prof. Dr. med. dent., will give a lecture on use of lasers for the treatment of inflammatory periodontal disease and the management of peri-implantitis. The application of different laser wavelengths in modern periodontics for incision, excision, ablation, or coagulation of tissues will be discussed and illustrated by numerous clinical cases. The lecture will be accompanied by demonstration of various surgical laser-assisted periodontal procedures, such as soft and hard tissue tumors removal for a successful surgical laser treatment without complications. Dr. Romanos will discuss how to use laser technology efficiently and safely. The LightScalpel LS-1005 system will be featured in the presentation by Dr. Romanos as an example of a 10.6 µm CO2 wavelength.
