Dr. Justin Roche Interview – Infant Laser Frenectomy

Justin Roche, MB ChB, MRCPCH, IBCLC, is a pediatrician at the National Tongue Tie Centre in Tipperary, Ireland. During this interview, he shares his journey from scissors to diode to CO₂ laser frenectomies. Thank you, Dr. Roche for the kind words.

Dr. Roche has been releasing tongue-ties since 2008. He has been running a tongue-tie dedicated clinic since 2010, where he assesses and releases tongue-ties and/or lip-ties in over a thousand babies each year.

Dr. Roche graduated from the University of Leeds in 1996 already having decided that pediatrics was the right path for him. He was fortunate enough to be able to get one of the first house officer (intern) jobs in Paediatrics in Leeds before moving onto SHO rotations initially at St Mary's, Isle of Wight, and then at the Southampton Hospitals group. He started his specialist registrar training at Coventry followed by Birmingham Children's Hospital. As a family, they then relocated to Ireland and he completed his higher specialist training between Sligo General Hospital, Crumlin Children's Hospital and The National Children's Hospital, Tallaght. As a consultant pediatrician, he has worked at the National Children's Hospital, Tallaght, and Sligo General Hospital before taking a permanent position at South Tipperary General Hospital in 2009. He is a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) and is registered with the Medical Council under the Specialist Division for Paediatrics.
