Infant Tongue-Tie Release – Dr. Cara J. Riek
Infant Tongue-Tie Release – Dr. Cara J. Riek
Watch as Dr. Cara J. Riek performs two newborn tongue-tie releases using her LigthScalpel CO2 laser. The newborn patients had difficulty breastfeeding among other symptoms.
LightScalpel CO2 laser tongue- and lip-tie (frenectomy) procedures are quick, gentle, and, in most cases, require no sutures. When compared to conventional surgery, LightScalpel laser treatment results in minimal to no bleeding, little to no swelling and discomfort, reduced risk of infection, and better cosmetic outcomes.
Cara Riek, DNP, RN, FNP-BC, IBCLC, DABLS, is a family nurse practitioner at Arizona Breastfeeding Medicine and Wellness, which focuses on breastfeeding support, and the Arizona Tongue Tie Center, which focuses on helping older children and adults with oral frenal restrictions. Dr. Riek graduated from Arizona State University with a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She is an IBCLC and a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.
