Modified Minimal Crown Lengthening Procedure – Richard B. Winter, DDS

Richard B. Winter, DDS, MAGD, DABOI/ID, DICOI, FAAID, FADI, FICO, DABLS, has developed a new technique called the modified minimal crown lengthening procedure (MMCL). Dr. Winter uses a LightScalpel CO2 laser during this procedure to remove soft tissue around the decayed tooth to access crestal bone, and later to provide hemostasis prior to the root canal preparation. This technique has allowed Dr. Winter to preserve bone for future implant procedures without the risks associated with the unpredictable closed-flap crown lengthening.
